
Comic-Con International focuses on the world of comic books and graphic novels. However, it has quickly become the premiere event for movie studios and directors to highlight their newest genre-related offerings. Here are some movie panels and presentations you will not want to miss the first day of Comic-Con 2011.
If you're a "Twilight" fan you'll want to get in line for Hall H. Summit Entertainment will be hosting an exclusive sneak peek at the newest film in the series, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1." There will also be a filmmaker and cast
Q&A session. It all starts at 11:15 a.m.
Oscar winning makeup effects wizard Rick Baker will be providing a special preview of his work on the upcoming "Men in Black 3." The Focus on Rick Baker presentation is taking place in the Indigo Room of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. He'll also be doing a retrospective of his career. A special emphasis will be placed on his work for Barry Sonnenfeld's "Men in Black" movies. The session starts at 12:15 p.m.
The Film District Studio Panel will be showing exclusive footage from two of their newest projects. The movies in the spotlight are Guillermo del Toro's "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive." A Q&A will be held for both films and will probably include the directors and cast. This is happening in Hall H at 2:00 p.m.
Entertainment Weekly is hosting "The Visionaries: A discussion with Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro on the Future of Pop Culture." These two legendary directors will be giving insight into their work and sharing their feelings about where pop culture is headed. There will no doubt be talk concerning del Toro's "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and Favreau's "Cowboys & Aliens."
The Hall H and Ballroom 20 Thursday Panel Playback will show attendees what they missed if they couldn't get into the two main rooms. Comic-Con will rebroadcast the most popular panels and presentations that took place. This takes place in Room 25ABC at 8:00 p.m.
