Danny Trejo Appears for 'From Dusk Till Dawn' Screening at New Beverly Cinema

Danny Trejo made an appearance at New Beverly Cinema when the Horror Movie A Day website screened the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez vampire epic "From Dusk Till Dawn." One of the main people from the website remarked how all of Tarantino's movies get shown at the New Beverly except for this one and had no idea why. Danny was very happy to spend time with fans and said that he had a lot of fun making this movie.

"From Dusk Till Dawn" marked the second movie Danny worked on with Robert Rodriguez ("Desperado" being the first). He plays Razor Eddie, a bartender at the Titty Twister. Upon first meeting Danny, Robert told him he "reminded him of all the bad guys" from his high school. It's safe to say Robert has used Danny's imposing physique to great use in each movie he's directed him in. These two also later discovered that they were related as Robert is Danny's second cousin. You can expect to see Danny and Robert working together again in the future very soon.

Rodriguez is known for shooting movies super fast in order to keep costs low and maintain creative control. With "From Dusk Till Dawn" however, Danny said Rodriguez couldn't shoot as fast as he had to deal with makeup and additional setups. Danny himself had to spend 2 weeks in full makeup and said this required him among other actors to come to the film set four hours earlier than usual. The upside is that his character was the one who gets to stab screenwriter Quentin Tarantino (in his already wounded hand no less).

In terms of favorite memories, Danny recalled when he took his daughter to the set during which the big vampire battle scenes were being shot. She got to watch the moment where when Razor Eddie gets his fiery comeuppance as his eyes are blown out of his skull. While a young kid witnessing her dad more or less exploding in front of her may seem traumatizing, this was her reaction:

"WHOA! DAD THAT WAS SO COOL!!!"

For a guy who's been through a lot in his lifetime, Danny Trejo came across as a very cool guy on top of being very wise. After making his film debut so many years ago in the Cannon Pictures classic "Death Wish 4: The Crackdown," Danny says he feels "very blessed" to be where he's at today and that he's never had any hard times as an actor. You can always find him hanging out at the East LA Commerce area keeping kids out of the troubles he got into at their age. As for acting advice, Danny simply said:
